Blue Devils Pull Off No-Hitter in Season Opener Win Against Benedictine, 17-4

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (1-0) took the season opener against the Benedictine Ravens 17-4 Feb. 5 in Atchison, Kan. Even with an impressive 17 team hits, the story of the game came from the eight Blue Devil pitchers who didn't let up a single hit the entire game.

Pitchers Maclane Finley, Mason Davenport, Aaron Lewis, Donovan Johnson, Carson Rosen, Will Bartkoski, Weston Fries and Dalton Smith combined for 12 strikeouts but also tallied 11 walks. Gehrig Goldbeck showcased his batting prowess, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3 and getting walked two times. Peyton Basler and Jase Woita also made significant contributions, each securing two runs with batting 2-for-3. Both Basler and Woita also hit home runs. Levi Martin displayed versatility by going 2 for 4 on the day while contributing three runs and one stolen base. Freddie Nolen IV is the lone Blue Devil who went a perfect 2-for-2 with a triple and two walks.

The four runs the Ravens scored came from Oliver Ferris, Jackson Stone, Gabriel Saucedo and Cooper Milroy. All four runs came in the second inning.

The next game for the Blue Devils is at 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at home against Butler County Community College.
