#18 Butler
EL DORADO, Kan. – The 18th ranked Butler softball squad earned two more Jayhawk Conference wins on Saturday as they defeated Fort Hays Tech Northwest 14-0 in game one and 18-0 in game two in a pair of five inning run rules.
Butler (21-5, 12-4 KJCCC) has won seven consecutive games and five consecutive conference games. Fort Hays Tech remains winless on the season (0-26, 0-18).
The Grizzlies combined for 32 runs and 25 hits in the two games while shutting the Tigers out. It was Butler's second consecutive conference doubleheader shutout at East Park after they defeated Pratt 8-0 and 9-0 on Wednesday.
Game one saw five Grizzlies finish with multiple hits while Emillee Stofferahn (W, 2-0) got the start throwing 2.0 innings allowing no runs. Maggie Grant closed the game out throwing the final 2.0 innings striking out three. Alivia Darbe finished 2-2 driving in three home runs while Kayle Raines drove in a team-high four runs. Audry Rumsey, Darbe, Madison Montgomery, Graci Hock and Kaylee Raines all homered in the game. Butler plated nine runs in the first inning.
Butler's offense kept it going in game two with the 18-0 win. Audry Rumsey (W, 1-1) earned the start throwing 3.0 scoreless, hitless innings while Addy Ewing closed the game out with 2.0 innings allowing a lone hit striking out four. Madison Montgomery drove in a career-high seven runs homering twice. Butler used 10 runs in the third inning to blow the game open.
