The Butler women posted their most lopsided victory in almost two years, racing past Bethel JV in a 104-27 win on Monday at the Power Plant.
The 77-point win is the widest margin since Butler beat Labette by a 113-33 score at home on Nov. 21, 2015.
The 104 points is the most Butler has scored since beating Oklahoma Wesleyan JV 106-41 in the season opener on Nov. 1, 2016.
Butler scored the first 11 points of the game on Monday against Bethel, with six of those points coming on three layups by Ericka Mattingly. Butler scored the final 12 points of the first quarter and led 32-7.
Butler then held Bethel to just four points in the second quarter and led 53-11 at halftime.
The Grizzlies hit the century mark on a bucket by Reagan Sanchez with 1:14 remaining, making the score 101-29.
Butler once again had balanced scoring, led by 14 points from Kyla Callins. Ericka Mattingly, Taylor Birch, Morgan Littlewood and Jalise Smallwood had 12 points apiece, while Awreona Ransom scored 11 as the Grizzlies had six players in double figures. Littlewood also had 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
Defensively, Butler held an opponent under 30 points for the second time in as many games this season.
The Grizzlies (2-0) will play their final non-conference game of the season when they face Hesston at home at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hesston is 2-1 after wins over Cottey College and McPherson College JV and an 84-45 loss at Seward County.
