
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College women's soccer team extended its record for consecutive shutouts to 13 straight with a 7-0 blanking of Hesston College Saturday night at the JCCC Soccer Complex. The Lady Cavaliers defense was so dominant that the Larks did not even attempt one shot the entire match.
Freshman midfielder Lily Marshall got the Lady Cavaliers on the board off an assist from sophomore midfielder Brenley Cunningham in the 17th minute and it remain a 1-nil match through halftime.
JCCC managed the break the match open with seven second half goals, two off the foot of freshman midfielder Brecken Hoy. She made 2-0 in the 58th minute sophomore forward Karsen Koehler picking up the assist. She also netted an unassisted score in the 70th minute.
Koehler notched her second assist six minute later when she found freshman midfielder Tatum Bresette to put JCCC up 3-0.
Freshman defender Ashley Chaput picked up her third goal of the season in the 77th with an assist from sophomore defender Sophie Abbott.
Sophomore defender Montana-Rose Curry made it 6-0 with an unassisted score in the 85th minute and freshman defender Riggs Kuhn capped the scoring in the 88th minute with Cunningham earning her second assist of the match.
Sophomore Maddox Fergus was credited with the shutout, her sixth on the season and 13th of her career, which moves into the sixth spot all-time at JCCC.
Johnson County (12-0-3/7-0-0) has two matches remaining in the regular season, first at Southeast Community College on Saturday, October 19 and at home against Highland Community College Wednesday, October 23 at 6 p.m.
