Indians lose third straight game; bow to Garden City 108-80

GARDEN CITY, Kan. The Garden City Community College men's basketball team took advantage McCook Community College miscues on the way to a 108-80 win Monday.

MCC committed 15 first-half turnovers leading to 22 Broncbuster points in a 44-35 deficit at the half. The Indians turned the ball over eight more times in the second half leading to 19 more in a 64-point Garden City second half.

All five Garden City starters scored at least 15 points led by Traylynn Spencer who scored 21 points.

The Broncbusters shot 59.4 percent from the field scored 45 points from the 3-point line (15 of 25 for 60 percent) and out-rebounded MCC 28-27.

Sophomore Justin Costello (Omaha) led MCC with 17 points. Sophomore Raheim Sullivan (Toronto, Ontario) scored 16.

Freshman Rahkiem Petterson (Midland, Texas) led the Indians with eight rebounds to go along with 11 points. Sophomore Tyrik Singh (San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago) scored 13 points and had seven rebounds.

Despite losing by 28 points, the Indians shot 54.7 percent from the field and made 10 of 25 3-point shots and were 12 of 25 from the free-throw line (48.0 percent).
Garden City improves to 6-3 on the season.

MCC falls to 3-5 and will try to snap a three-game losing streak at the three-day Foss Motors Thanksgiving Classic in Casper, Wyo. The Indians take on Dakota College at Bottineau (4-4) Thursday at 8:30 p.m. (CT); Casper College (6-2) Friday at 8:30 p.m. (CT) and Colorado Northwestern (1-8) at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Indians close out the pre-holiday schedule with a Dec. 3 game at Columbus against Central Community College then a weekend road trip Dec. 6 and 7 at Laramie County Community College and Eastern Wyoming.
