
The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball fell to the fourth seeded Highland Community College Scotties, 66-33 Mar. 4 at Highland Community College in the opening round of the 2024-25 NJCAA Region VI Women's Basketball DII Playoffs. With only 33 points, it was the least amount of points the Blue Devils scored all season. KCKCC finishes the season with an overall record of 14-16 and 6-8 conference record.
Zoe Clark and Ja'Cole Johnson tied for a team-high seven points shooting 5-16 from the field. Samaire Slusarek brought down a team-high seven rebounds and finished the game with three points. Capri Garrett came off the bench and grabbed six rebounds and scored four points. Bennett Peck and Kylee West combined for five points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal. The Scotties also got the best of the Blue Devils in the regular season as they lost on Jan. 22, 73-61 and on Feb.15 with a final score of 68-54.
Slusarek finished the season averaging 15 points per game, Garrett averaged 8.3 rebounds per game and Berenguer Fernandez averaged 3.4 assists per game.
For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 12-45 from the field (26.7%), 4-16 from three-point range (25%) and 5-10 the free-throw line (50%). The Scotties shot 26-60 from the field (43.3%), 4-17 from three-point range (23.5%) and 10-14 from the free-throw line (71.4%).
