Blue Devils Win Streak Snapped by No.10 Cavaliers

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team fell to the Johnson Community College Cavaliers, 78-63 Feb.8 in Overland Park, Kan. The Cavaliers were able to shoot 50% from the floor as they snapped the seven-game win streak the Blue Devils had built up.

Pierce Ross came off the bench and produced a team-high 15 points while shooting 5-10 from the floor and recorded one steal. Darren McHenry supplied a team-high 10 rebounds and shot 2-2 form the floor. Camron Williford shot 4-6 from the floor, had 11 points and brought down five rebounds. Manuel Martinez used his speed and recorded a team-high two steals while scoring nine points. The Blue Devils are now 7-2 in conference play with both losses coming from Johnson County. There are five games remaining in the regular season and Highland is right behind the Blue Devils in the conference standings with a 5-3 conference record. Highland and KCKCC will face one another at 2 p.m. Feb.15 at Park University.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 23-68 from the field (33.8%), 5-23 from three-point range (21.7%) and 12-13 from the free-throw line (92.3%). The Cavaliers shot 32-64 from the field (50%), 4-20 from three-point range (20%) and 10-15 from the free-throw line (66.7%).

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in Fort Scott, Kan.
