OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The NIACC softball team split a pair of games Wednesday on the Johnson County CC campus.
No. 10 (NJCAA Division II) Johnson County CC topped NIACC 12-4 in five innings and the Trojans stopped Iowa Western 11-7.
In the game against Johnson County CC, the Trojans' Katy Olive and Madisyn Kelley both hit home runs.
In the game against Iowa Western, freshman Macy Kellar (5-3) gained the win in the circle as the Trojans avenged an 8-0 loss to the Reivers in Council Bluffs on March 2.
Kelley was 3 for 4, including two home runs, and a career-best five RBIs and Olive was 3 for 4, including a double, and a RBI. NIACC's Madisyn Bauer was 2 for 4, including a double, with two RBIs.
It is the second time in three games that a NIACC player hit two home runs in a game. Bauer hit two home runs in a 8-0 win over Heartland CC on March 8.
Kelley, who has homered in three straight games, and Olive share the Trojans' lead with six home runs each.
NIACC (9-7) returns to action Thursday with a pair of games on the Johnson County CC campus. NIACC faces Johnson County CC at 10 a.m. and Iowa Western at 12:30 p.m.
