Blue Devils Split with North Iowa Area back-to-back days, 14-2 and 8-5

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (12-10) split against North Iowa Area Community College (11-11) 14-2 and 8-5 Mar. 17 in Kansas City, Kan.

In the first game, the Blue Devils recorded seven hits but would only convert for two runs. Kloey Dawes recorded her first home run of the season and went 2-3 at the plate. Sydney Becker had two singles with her four at-bats. McKenna Lester sent one over the fence while going one for three. Adrianna Smith and Sara Portela both tallied a hit from their combined six at-bats.

Alexis Smith threw for one inning and let one run score off one hit and two walks. She did strikeout two Trojans in the six batters faced. Alyssa Droge came in and let up 12 runs from the 13 Trojan hits.

In game two,  Lester broke out to lead the Blue Devils while going 2-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Savannah Short also had an impressive day going 1-2 and bringing in two runs from a double. Becker went 2-4 and scored one run. Dawes also recorded a hit in her three plate appearances and tallied one strikeout.

Hanna Acree once again threw for all seven innings and only had two earned runs but five as a team. She recorded struck out an impressive five Trojans and just had two walks.
