Blue Devils Go Winless on Saturday, 4-2 and 3-2

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (3-7) went winless on the day against Rock Valley and 10th ranked Kirkwood 4-2 and 3-2 Mar. 2 in Kansas City, Kan.

In the first game against Rock Valley, the Blue Devils put together five hits, two runs and two strikeouts. Kloey Dawes went 1 for 3 with a triple and scored one run while Gabrielle King went 1 for 3 and left one Blue Devil on base. Annika Smith and Savannah Short also went 1 for 3 with doubles with Short scoring one run. Landri Lopez and Alyssa Droge were the pitchers, and they combined for four hits, four runs, one walk and six strikeouts.

 

The Golden Eagles started the game strong with four runs in the first two innings and would stop there. Faith McClain was the only player with more than one hit and tallied one run and one RBI. Molly Kable, Emma Krug and Briella Sendele counted for the other three RBIs. Natalie Lower pitched the entire game and had three hits and two runs scored against her with two strikeouts.

 

In game two against Kirkwood, the Blue Devils struggled at the plate with only getting one base, three walks and three hits. Gabrielle King counted for two of the three hits for the team, and Liberty Hawks recorded a hit while also getting walked twice. Hannah Acree threw for the first five innings and only let up two hits but let two runs score. Acree walked one Eagle and struck out two. Alyssa Droge came in for the final two innings and had one hit and one run against her.

 

Lexi Hines once again led Kirkwood with two RBIs while going 1 for 2 at the plate with a sac fly. Rachael Schlotter, Brenna Ross and Sailor Hall counted up for the other three Eagle hits. Ross, Kiya Johnson and Sydney Roe added for all three of the runs on the game. Jenna Sprague threw the entire game and only let up three hits and two runs. She only had one strikeout and walked three Blue Devils.

 

The next game for the Blue Devils is against Moberly Area at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Mar. 6 in Kansas City, Kan.
