Baseball Slips To Neosho, Takes One Of Four Contests

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The KCKCC baseball team faced off against Neosho County this past week where the squad took one out of four games from the Panthers. The Blue Devils won the second game of the series 4-3, while falling 5-3, 11-4 and 11-8 in the other contests.

KCKCC is now 11-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

THURSDAY
In the first game, Neosho put up two quick runs in the second inning, but the Blue Devils answered with three runs in the fourth inning. The Panthers added one run in the bottom half and another pair in the fifth, while shutting down the Blue Devils for the win.

Neosho got out to an early lead in the second game at 3-0, before KCKCC earned a run in the fourth inning. The squad then scored one run in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to take the lead. KCKCC did not score in the ninth, but held the Panthers scoreless to earn the victory.

Matthew Buffington added a triple and two RBI in game one, while Jase Woita highlighted the offense with two hits and a home run in game two.

SUNDAY
KCKCC fell in both games on Sunday as Neosho put up 11 runs in each game. KCKCC scored four runs in the first game, which all came in the first inning. Neosho then controlled the tempo the rest of the way.

Parker McGee added a double in the contest, while Payton McHarg hit a home run.

In the second game KCKCC jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings. The Panthers scored three runs in the fifth inning, but the Blue Devils struck for another trio of runs to take an 8-3 lead. They carried that all the way to the ninth inning.

Neosho would break out for eight runs to take an 11-8 advantage heading to the bottom half. KCKCC was unable to score and fell in the end.

Brady Patterson added a double in the game, while McGee and McHarg each had two RBI.

The Blue Devils return to the field Tuesday when they host Baker University JV at 1 p.m.
