Red Raven Men's Soccer With a Loss And a Tie To Open Their Season

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Soccer Team opened their 2024 season on the road Friday, August 23rd with a match at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid.  In a close contest, the Red Ravens lost their opener 4-3 against the Jets.

The three goals scored for the Red Ravens were netted by freshman midfielder Diego Mejia (assist by Alaa Kodi), freshman midfielder Miguel Basalic (assist by Jacob Shaw), and freshman midfielder Belaid Belmehdi (unassisted).

Coffeyville followed up the Friday night loss in Enid with a Saturday afternoon tilt in Midwest City Oklahoma against Rose State College.  In a lower-scoring game, the Red Ravens battled Rose State to a 1-1 tie.  Rose State opened the scoring by netting their only goal early in the second half.  The Red Ravens answered roughly ten minutes later with freshman Diego Mejia netting his second goal of the season with an assist by Belaid Bemehdi.  Defensively, both teams battled over the remaining 30 minutes of play with the match ultimately ending with a 1-1 tie.

Coffeyville will look to get a mark in the win column as they will play next at Neosho County Community College on Wednesday, August 28th with game time in Chanute KS scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
