Grizzlies Swept By No. 6 Barton
GREAT BEND, Kan. – Butler volleyball faced a stiff test on the road on Wednesday evening, being swept 3-0 (14-25, 20-25, 17-25) by the No. 6 ranked Barton Cougars at the Barton Gymnasium.

Butler (5-5, 1-1 KJCCC) held the unbeaten Cougars (10-0, 1-0) to under .200 hitting (.198) but the Grizzlies hit just .122 and made nine service errors on top of 16 attack errors. Barton has swept nine of their 10 matches on the season.
Avery DeLong led Butler with nine kills with Sarah Sullivan adding four. Anja Milosevic had 24 assists to go with five digs, Raven Boone rejected four attacks and Laynee Brown dug up a team-high eight Cougar attacks.
The loss snapped a four-match win streak in Great Bend for the Grizzlies.
Butler led 1-0 in the first set but never led again as Barton ended the set on a 5-0 run. The second set saw Butler lead late at 19-17 but Barton fired back to claim the set 25-20. The Grizzlies fell behind 8-1 in the third set. They battled back and cut the lead to two midway through but Barton completed the sweep with a 25-17 set three win.
The Grizzlies return to the Power Plant on Saturday taking on another ranked opponent in No. 7 ranked Colby at 2 p.m. Colby is the defending Region 6 champ after defeating the Grizzlies in four sets in 2023.
