Blue Devils get Swept by Neosho, 5-4 and 8-7

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (18-14) got swept by Neosho County Community College (24-11) 5-4 and 8-7 Apr. 4 in Chanute, Kan. The Blue Devils out hit the Tigers in both games combined but fell short by one run in each of the contests.

In the first game, Adrianna Smith delivered a standout performance, contributing one hit and two RBI with her two at bats. Annika Smith also made a significant impact, registering one run and one RBI with one hit in three at bats while Liberty Hawks demonstrated versatility, securing one run and one hit while drawing one walk in her three at bats. Jaycee Long also had one hit, one run and one RBI. Sydney Becker and Kloey Dawes both notched one hit each in their four at bats, while Kylie Vandervoort also secured one hit and drew one walk in her two at bats. Dawes also brought in the only double for the Blue Devils.

Alyssa Droge threw for all six innings letting up four runs from the eight Tiger hits. Droge struck out seven batters, walked two and let up three home runs.

For the second game, Savannah Short demonstrated exceptional offensive prowess, amassing three hits and two runs in four at bats, including one RBI. Long and Annika Smith also made significant contributions, each scoring two runs and combining for four hits in seven at bats. Dawes provided a powerful offensive display with two RBIs from one hit in five at bats, while Becker added one run and one RBI with her one hit in five at bats. Hawks showcased consistency with two hits and one RBI. There were two home runs coming from Short and Dawes.

Hanna Acree threw for all seven innings and let the Tigers get on base with the nine hits and four walks. She struck out three batters and let up two home runs.
