Highland Picks Up Road KJCCC Win By Taking Down Allen

The #4 Highland volleyball started a week packed with some travel with a KJCCC clash on the road against Allen and the Scotties snagged their first Conference win of the season beating the Red Devils in three-straight sets.

Scotties earned the 3-0 win over Allen 25-16, 25-17, 25-19 continuing Head Coach, Jon Bingesser's unbeaten streak against the Red Devils moving him to 7-0, while the Scotties have won 21 of 22 sets played between the teams during those seven matches.

Highland worked out to early control in the first set going up 8-2 early with contributions coming from multiple places and only continued to move upward in the set going up 13-4 off a block and then moved to a 16-8 lead that forced an Allen timeout. Scotties capped the set strong taking it 25-16.

Behind some solid serving from Myla Turner which included some aces and multiple kills from Jessica Monroe Highland had no problem taking control of the second set. Allen would push back to close the gap but the Scotties finished the set strong including a late Cajia Allen kill and secured the second set 25-17.

Set three proved to be tight early with and the Scotties fell down briefly at 12-11 but once the Highland pushed to a 16-14 lead the momentum was back in the court of the Scotties and despite the Red Devils best efforts Highland took the set 25-19 winning the match.

Turner led the backrow again anchoring the libero spot and registered a season best 21 digs, stretching her double figure digs match streak to 27-straight matches and added three aces on the night. Kellyn Lipasek distributed the wealth nicely with her assists finishing with 33 which marks her fourth time over 30 assists in a match and chipped in nine digs and two kills.

Monroe paced the Scotties upfront recording 12 kills for her fourth double figure kill performance of the season, while Allen had nine kills and eight digs in the win. Nicole Franco had a strong performance finishing with seven kills, while Amber Hildebrand notched six digs.

The win moves the Scotties to 9-2 on the season and 1-2 in KJCCC action. Highland now hits the road again as they travel to Sterling, Colorado for the Sam and Louie's Restaurant Invitational hosted by Northeastern junior college. Scotties will play two matches on Friday and two on Saturday (see schedule here); matches versus North Platte (Friday at 6:00pm) and Northeastern (Saturday 4:30pm) will be live streamed on the Scottie Sports Network.
