Women’s Soccer: Raiders Post First Win

Sydney Weiler scored the game-winning goal as Central Community College women's soccer posted a 1-0 home win over Pratt (Kan.) Community College on Wednesday.

The Raiders and the Beavers were scoreless until the 82nd minute when Weiler (pictured) took the ball to the end line and slotted the ball to two CCC players waiting in front of the Pratt goal. One of the Pratt defenders got a foot on the ball but it bounced in the goal, giving Weiler the game-winner.

CCC netminder Rachel Willette had five saves on the day.

"It's great to get the first win of the season," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "Despite injuries and some bad luck this year, the girls have kept fighting and believing and it finally paid off."

The win gives the Raiders a record of 1-5-1.

Central will return the pitch on Monday against Southeast Community College. Game time is set for 4:30 at a site to be determined.
