
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College opened its home schedule Tuesday night with a 51-point victory over Bethan College JV, 79-28. With the win the Lady Cavaliers extended their home court win streak to 72 straight games dating back to February 8, 2020.
Three Johnson County freshmen finished in double figures led by guard Layla Scott with 18 points. She was 7-of-17 shooting with three 3-point baskets and free throw. She also four steals, three rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots.
The other two players in double digits came in off the bench. Guard Jamya McPherson posted 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists, and guard Kara Stricklin contributed 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting with three treys and a free throw.
Sophomore guard Taliyah Scott and sophomore forward Aa'Mya Stacker had solid lines. Scott finished with eight points, seven assists and six boards, and Stacker was a perfect 4-for-4 shooting a 1-of-1 at the line for nine points. She also grabbed eight rebounds.
Sophomore forward Yar Manyiel was JCCC's top rebounder with nine.
The Lady Cavaliers host its annual JCCC Classic on this weekend. The take on Iowa Lakes Community College on Friday, November 9 at 5 p.m., and host Southwestern Community College on Saturday, November 10 at 2 p.m.
