28 Blue Devil Runs Good Enough for Split

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team split against the St. Charles Community College Cougars in O'Fallon, Mo. The Blue Devils put up 14 runs in both game 1 and game 2. The Blue Devils let up just four runs in the first game, but then allowed the Cougars to score 19 runs in game two.

In the first game, it took no time for the Blue Devil offense to get going as they put up nine runs in the top of the first inning. Frankie Santiago went 2-2 from the plate, tallying three RBIs with a double. Marcus Dierks also had three RBIs while going 1-3 at the plate and one walk while leading off for KCKCC. Freddie Nolen IV and Cade Parry both had two RBI and combined for three runs scored.

Ian Woita started the game and allowed one hit, one walk and one strikeout in his two innings of work. Between the three Blue Devil pitchers, Avery Oravetz, Jorge Sanchez and James Dulle, who threw for an inning each, they didn't let up a single hit and struck out seven of the 13 batters they faced.

For the second game, Harrison Barham had three of the eight hits for the Blue Devils and scored two runs. John Caime went 2-3 from the plate, had two RBIs and scored twice. Sawyer Tolk and Santiago both had a homerun and combined for three RBIs.

There were six Blue Devil pitchers who allowed 15 hits and 19 runs. In the 43 batters that they faced, they struck out six batters and walked seven.

The next series for the Blue Devils is against Labette at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. March 13 at the KCKCC baseball field.
