KCKCC BLUE DEVILS GET 8th STRAIGHT WIN

The KCKCC Blue Devils raced passed Johnson County on Wednesday in the same fashion they have won their past 8 games…solid defense, rebounding and consistent shooting.  The 67-49 victory moved the Blue Devils into first place in the region (8-4 record) and 2nd place overall in the conference with an overall record of 22-8.  The win solidified a first round bye and the opportunity to host the second round game.

The Blue Devils were led in scoring by CJ Vallejo with 15 points.  Roberto Hernandez and Joe Lendway each added 14 points apiece.  The Blue Devils shot a sizzling 54% from the floor and 43% from the 3 point line and edged out Johnson County in rebounding with a 33-26 advantage.  "This was a total team effort;  all 7 guys bought in and contributed, especially in the second half.  This win really put us in a great position to be successful in the post season.  Our first objective has been accomplished, now onto the second one and that is to make the National Tournament held in Danville, IL," said head coach Kelly Newton.

The Blue Devils will play the winner of the Johnson County and Brown Mackie game which will be held on Saturday, February 28th at 1:00 in Salina, KS.  The next round will be held Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 at Kansas City Kansas Community College.  The winner of that game will advance to the Region VI championship game in Wichita on Saturday, March 7th at 3:00.
