CHANUTE, Kan. - The NIACC baseball team dropped a pair of non-league games to Neosho County CC on Sunday.
Neosho County CC, which also swept Saturday's doubleheader, won the opener 9-0 and won the second game 6-2.
In the first game, the Panthers' Casey Clemenson tossed a 2-hit shutout against the Trojans. Clemenson struck out eight, walked one and allowed a double to Isaac Huettl and a single to Asa Rapp.
Neosho County CC scored three runs in the third inning, four in the fourth inning and two in the sixth inning.
In the second game, Neosho County CC scored two runs each in the first, second and sixth frames. NIACC scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
NIACC was held to three hits by Neosho County CC's starter Cooper Hayden and reliever Conor Wolf. The Trojans' Tyler Froland collected an RBI single, Carter Dalton had a RBI double and Alex Matchey had a single.
NIACC starter Zach Dohrmann struck out a season-high seven with three walks in four innings of work. Dohrmann allowed four runs on four hits.
NIACC (5-6) returns to action Friday and Saturday with a three-game series at Barton CC in Great Bend, Kan. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday.
