Volleyball Takes Over Third Place in the KJCCC after Sweep of Highland

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's volleyball team swept the Highland Community College Scotties Oct. 2 at Highland Community College. The Blue Devils were directly behind the Scotties in the KJCCC standings. With the sweep, the Blue Devils are now just behind Johnson County and Cowley College who are both undefeated in conference play.

The Blue Devils took the three sets against the Scotties with scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-14. The Blue Devil offense was led by sophomore outside hitter, Mercedez Brown who had 13 kills on her 26 total attempts. Tatianna Murray was right behind her with 11 kills on her 22 total attempts. Veronica "Ash" Rolando recorded 32 of the 37 assists as well as nine digs and three service aces. Alejandra Aponte, Murray and Brown all had 11 digs. Nykeriah Allen, Geme Ajekwu and Rolando all had two block assists to top off the Blue Devil sweep. The Blue Devils are now 13-5 overall and have won eight of their last nine matches.
