Highland Volleyball Splits at Cloud County Triangular

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 It was a light week of competition for the Highland volleyball team as they hit the court only one night that being Friday in Concordia, Kansas for a triangular at Cloud County.

The Scotties split the matchups on the night beating Southeast 3-1 (25-12, 22-25, 25-10, 25-13) and falling to #13 Cloud County 3-0 (18-25, 14-25, 23-25). With the 1-1 evening of action the Scotties moved to 24-7 on the season.

Highland opened the evening with a strong first set controlling the set against Southeast to take the early advantage in the match winning the first set 25-12. Set two Southeast made it a tight affair and took the set over the Scotties 22-25. Sets three and four were like the first set as the Scotties established control and won by wide margins 25-10 and 25-13 to take the match.

In the win Cajia Allen paced the Scotties upfront with 17 kills hitting .308 in the contest and tallied a double-double in the matchup with 13 digs. Jessica Monroe tallied 13 kills and Abby Williams also recorded double digit kills with 11. Amber Hildebrand anchored the libero spot and tallied 18 digs, while both Brianda Diaz and Nicole Franco each had 16 digs on the night. Franco added eight kills to her stat line. Kellyn Lipasek had 54 assists on the teams 57 kills in the match.

Scotties wrapped up the night with a tough three set loss to Cloud County falling in three sets (18-25, 15-25, 23-25) in a battle of ranked KJCCC teams with the matchup being a non-conference showdown. Highland had Franco finish with nine kills and eight digs in the loss, while Hildebrand recorded 13 digs in the contest. Monroe and Allen had eight and seven kills, respectively, while Lipasek tallied 29 assists.

Five games remain in the regular season for Highland with three at home including the Scotties next matchup a KJCCC contest against Hesston on Wednesday, October 16th at 6:30pm. (Match will be live streamed on the Scottie Sports Network)
