Women’s Basketball Adds Third Conference Win on the Road

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team edged out the the Hesston College Larks on the road Jan. 25, 48-45. Trailing 24-19 at halftime, the Blue Devils sank five three-pointers to secure the victory.

Bennett Peck was responsible for two of those five three point shots as she finished with a team-high 16 points and four steals. She was the only Blue Devil to finish with double digits. Both Destiny Ochs and Kylee West came off the bench and scored seven points each along with combining for eight rebounds. Ja'Cole Johnson had a team-high five assists and finished with six points. Despite shooting under 30% from the floor, KCKCC held the Larks to just 45 points and 21 turnovers. This marks the least number of points in a win (48) since before 2013.  

For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 18-61 from the field (29.5%), 7-28 from three-point range (25%) and 5-11 the free-throw line (45.5%). The Larks shot 19-63 from the field (30.2%), 2-12 from three-point range (16.7%) and 5-13 from the free-throw line (38.5%).

The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against the Allen Community College Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at MCC-Penn Valley in Kansas City, Mo.
