Odle Leads Grizzlies to Game 1 Win Over Conquistadors

EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler softball took on Dodge City on Thursday splitting a pair of games with the Conquistadors at East Park. Butler won 4-1 in game one before falling 7-6 in game two.

Dodge City (15-13, 8-4) snapped a 48-game Butler winning streak in the series taking down the Grizzlies (14-4, 7-3) for the first time since 2005.

Sophomore pitcher Chloe Odle (W, 5-1) threw a complete game in game one allowing one run and four hits over 7.0 innings, striking out eight. The Grizzlies outhit Dodge 7-4 and used three second inning runs to claim the win as the two teams were scoreless over the final five innings.

Game two saw Dodge City win 7-6 despite the Grizzlies outhitting the Conqs 9-6. Three sixth inning runs from Dodge helped them to the win as they took a 7-5 lead. Butler scratched a run across in the seventh on a Kory Schoenfeld RBI single but could not plate the tying run. Dodge City's Whitley Cash finished 3-4 with three RBI to lead Dodge City. Audry Rumsey (L, 0-1) suffered the loss allowing the go ahead run.
