
The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team went 1-1 this past weekend during the annual KCKCC Athletic Hall of Fame Classic, taking down Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley, but then falling to No.5 North Central Missouri College with scores of 87-78 and 68-86. The classic took place Nov.8 and 9 at MCC-Penn Valley.
In the first game, there were several standout performances from the Blue Devil team. BJ Stewart led the team with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Darren McHenry also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Camron Williford had a team-high eight assists with 17 points. Jeremiah Lewis came off the bench and shot 3-4 from the floor, 2-3 from three-point range and 4-5 from the free-throw line. He finished with 12 points and two rebounds. Manuel Martinez scored 11 points with seven rebounds, two assists and three steals.
For the game, the Blue Devils went 28-64 from the field (43.8%), 7-21 from three-point range (33.3%) and 24-33 from the free-throw line (72.7%). The Wolves went 27-63 from the field (42.9%), 3-14 from three-point range (21.4%) and 21-28 from the free-throw line (75%).
In the second game, the No.5 Pirates didn't seem to miss in the second half as they went 18-29 from the field. Israel Randle had a team-high four assists along with his 20 points. Stewart once again led the team in points with 21. He now averages 19.7 points per game. O'shawn Jones-Winslow went 6-11 form the floor with 12 points and eight rebounds. McHenry brought down 10 rebounds but scored just one point.
For the game, the Blue Devils went 27-64 from the field (42.2%), 5-20 from three-point range (25%) and 9-12 from the free-throw line (75%). The Pirates went 32-62 from the field (51.6%), 8-19 from three-point range (42.1%) and 14-21 from the free-throw line (66.7%).
The next game for the Blue Devils is against DI No.15 Hutchinson Community College at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan.
