
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – With the stands filled with fans decked out in pink t-shirts, and Johnson County Community College volleyball wearing pink arm sleeves, the No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College volleyball teamed resumed Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II play with a 3-0 sweep over Allen Community College Wednesday night at the JCCC Gymnasium with the team hosting its annual "Pink Out Night".
The Lady Cavaliers opened with 25-12 win then completed the sweep with wins of 25-19 and 25-12 in the second and third sets. With the victory, JCCC improved to 14-0 on the season.
Freshman setter Taylin Stallbaumer, last week's NJCAA Offensive Player of the Week, posted a double-double of 24 assists and 13 digs.
JCCC's hitters were led by a trio of sophomore. Kennedy Smalley tallied seven kills and led the Lady Cavaliers in the dig department with 19. Tory Valentine and Coral Netten each contributed six kills.
Freshman defensive specialist/libero Carlie Martin, already a three-time KJCCC D-II Defensive Player of the Week recipient, produced 12 digs.
Sophomores Bella Hedke and Chloe Carlgren were the team's top blockers finishing with six and five respectively.
Johnson County returns to the court on Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21, when the host their annual JCCC Challenge. The Lady Cavaliers will face NEO A&M College and Northeast Community College on Friday at 1 and 5 p.m. On Saturday the take on No. 4 Kirkwood Community College at noon and cap the weekend against Ottawa University JV at 2 p.m.
