Highland Women Cruise Past Hesston On the Road Moving to 3-0 in KJCCC Action

Highland women's basketball team raced out to the early lead and cruised on the road to pick up another KJCCC win and remain unbeaten on the season beating Hesston 91-46.

Scotties continued their shoot the ball well and forced turnovers with their defense and turned them into points against the Larks of Hesston taking control early and cruising to the win. Highland worked to a 20-11 lead by the end of the first quarter but the game was decidedly in the favor of the Scotties early in the second quarter as the Scotties went on a stretch run and outscored the Larks 23-6 in the quarter to lead 43-17 at halftime.

The second half was much more of the same as the Highland posted a 30-point third quarter doubling up Hesston in the quarter to grow the lead and went on to easily pick up the 91-46 win.

Highland shot over 53.6% from the floor and once again kept the rebounding margin close in the contest, while only having eight turnovers. On the defensive side the Scotties stymied Hesston from horn to horn forcing 34 turnovers in the contest while Hesston managed only 39 shot attempts to Highland's 69.

A quartet of double figure scorers paced the Scotties on the night paced by 20 points on 8-10 shooting off the bench by Riana Lawson who added four steals. Khaliah Hines matched her career high tallying 17 points with four rebounds, while Tiana Gipson finished with 11 points and Charlay Conway chipped in 10 points, four steals and two rebounds off the bench.

The win moves the Scotties to 17-0 on the season and 3-0 in KJCCC action. Highland's attention now turns to another Top 10 clash on Saturday, February 1st at home against #8 KCK.
