Red Raven Tight End Brec Long Hauls in 3 TD Passes as #14 Red Ravens Defeat Iowa Central 31-20

Fort Dodge IA - Behind three touchdowns from Red Raven tight end Brec Long, the #14 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Football team defeated the Tritons of Iowa Central 31-20.  With the victory, Coffeyville improved their overall 2024 record to 4-2 which includes a 1-1 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) record.

Coffeyville jump-started the scoring early in the second quarter as Red Raven red-shirt freshman quarterback Chris Arviso connected to sophomore tight end Brec Long for a 51-yard touchdown pass (Roan McCarthy PAT was good) to give the Ravens a 7-0 lead three plays into the second quarter.

After a three-and-out by the Tritons, lightning struck again as Arviso connected with Long for a 56-yard touchdown (McCarthy PAT good) to extend Coffeyville's lead out to 14-0.  

Iowa Central pulled within 14-6 after the Tritons converted two field goals midway through the second quarter.  Coffeyville capped off their first-half scoring as sophomore Tre'avis Jones scampered for a 6-yard touchdown run (McCarthy PAT good) to take a 21-6 lead into halftime.

Midway through the third quarter, Iowa Central pulled the score to 21-13 as they converted a 2-yard touchdown run to make it a one-score game.  Coffeyville immediately answered with a McCarthy 34-yard field goal to push the score out to 24-13.

There was a Brec Long sighting early in the fourth quarter as Arviso again connected with Long for a 17-yard touchdown to give the Ravens a 31-13 lead early in the fourth quarter.  Iowa Central scored a late fourth-quarter touchdown to finalize the scoring and give the 31-20 victory to the Red Ravens.

Long completed his day for the Ravens with 3 receptions for 124 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Long's 124-yard receiving was Coffeyville's first 100-yard receiver since Isaiah Taylor caught 5 passes for 106 yards against Garden City on October 23, 2021.

Coffeyville welcomes in #1 Hutchinson this coming Saturday, October 19th to Veterans Memorial Stadium as the Red Ravens will celebrate their 2024 Homecoming.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
