Blue Devils Split with Division One Iowa Western, 8-4 and 17-7

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (13-11) split against Iowa Western (20-14) 8-4 and 17-7 Mar. 19 at the Blue Devil softball field.

In the first game, Sydney Becker keeps her hot streak going with two doubles and one RBI. Both Mckenna Lester and Savannah Short had impressive days at the plate bringing in three hits each. Kloey Dawes had just one hit, but it was a clutch double that brought in two Blue Devils. Adrianna Smith went 1-3 and had a solo home run.

Alyssa Droge threw the entire game for the Blue Devils and let up all eight Reiver runs.

In game two, there were five Blue Devils who had multi-hit games. Dawes once again provided the team with two RBIs and both of her hits were doubles. Becker also did her job as the leadoff batter and recorded two hits, two runs and two RBIs. She also had her fifth home run on the season. Liberty Hawks was nothing short of impressive with going 2-2, scoring three runs and getting walk two times. Short recorded another two-hit game while scoring two runs and bringing in one RBI. Jaycee Long had her first home run on the year while going 1-2 at the plate and getting walked once. Lester also had two hits and scored two runs.

Hanna Acree threw for 4.1 innings and let up eight hits, one walk and one strikeout. She got charged with four runs but let up seven as a team. Alyssa Droge came in for the final .2 innings and didn't let up a hit nor walk to bring home the Blue Devils a mercy rule win.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against State Fair Community College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Mar. 24 at the Blue Devil softball field.
