Women's Soccer: Raiders Outlast Red Devils

The Central Community College women's soccer team defeated Allen County Community College on Wednesday in Columbus, 5-2.

In the first half, the Raiders struggled to separate themselves, with the majority of first half ball control being a 50/50 split between the Raiders and the Red Devils. Despite that, the Raiders were able to hold on to a 1-1 draw at half with goals from Ruby Macias for the Raiders and Audrey Smith for the Red Devils. In the second half, the Raiders pulled away, winning the second half 4-1. The lone second half goal was put in by Smith as well. CCC's second-half scorers were Lois Taylor (assisted by Lea Cordier), Lily Tilyard (assisted by Layla Russell), Olivia Hind (assisted by Talia Gisonni) and Keira Harms

"Beating Allen was a huge win for us," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "They are almost always ranked in the top 20 and have been the top one or two teams in our region since we joined, so beating them was a big step for our program. "

The Raiders improve to 11-3-1 and are in action against Hesston College this Saturday at Raider Field.
