Huge Upset in Hutchinson for No.22 Men’s Basketball

Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball, ranked 22nd in Division II, pulled off the upset Tuesday night, beating Hutchinson Community College, 79-75. The Blue Dragons are currently ranked 15th in Division I Men's Basketball. BJ Stewart had a career game while dropping a career-high 32 points while bringing down 14 rebounds and five steals. He had 16 points each half and shot 71.4% from the field in the first half.

Jeremiah Lewis started for the first time this season and recorded 16 points while shooting 5-11 from the field and 4-8 from three-point range. Israel Randle controlled the tempo for the Blue Devils while dishing out six assists, two steals and finished with 12 points. Both Darren McHenry and Camron Williford finished with six points each and combined for six rebounds.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 26-62 from the field (41.9%), 12-28 from three-point range (42.9%) and 15-22 from the free-throw line (68.2%). The Blue Dragons shot 23-56 from the field (41.1%), 10-24 from three-point range (41.7%) and 19-25 from the free-throw line (76%).

The next game for the Blue Devils is against Rock Valley at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at MCC-Penn Valley.
