Men’s Basketball to Region VI Semifinal

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team took down the (7) Neosho County Community College Panthers, 92-56 Mar. 3 at MCC-Penn Valley in Kansas City, Mo. The 2024-25 Region VI DII Men's Basketball Tournament didn't have any upsets occur in the opening round as every higher seed dealt with their opponent fairly easily besides the (4) Allen Red Devils just sneaking by the (5) Hesston Larks with a final score of 84-81.

BJ Stewart led the Blue Devils with 19 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, all team-highs. Pierce Ross shot 6-9 from the field and finished the game with 18 points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Ta'Veaion Washington was on fire from distance as he went 3-3 from behind the arc, finishing with 11 points and a pair of steals. Darren McHenry was the last Blue Devil to finish in double figures as he shot 5-8 from the floor, brought down seven rebounds and dropped 10 points. Both Israel Randle and DJ Long came off the bench and supplied the team with seven points each and combined for seven assists. As a team, KCKCC drained the first six three-point shots that they took in the opening eight minutes of the game.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 34-67 from the field (50.7%), 11-26 from three-point range (42.3%) and 13-19 from the free-throw line (68.4%). The Panthers shot 23-59 from the field (39%), 8-28 from three-point range (28.6%) and 2-6 from the free-throw line (33.3%).

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the third seeded Highland Community College at 7:30 p.m. Mar. 7 at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan. for the Region VI semifinal.
