
The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball fell to the Highland Community College Scotties, 68-54 Feb.15 at Park University in Parkville, Mo. The Blue Devils trailed the Scotties 52-35 at the start of the fourth quarter but were able to bring the game within nine points, 60-51, with 3:32 remaining on the clock.
Destiny Ochs finished with a team-high 12 points and recorded three steals and three rebounds. Kylee West brought down a career-high 13 rebounds and dropped seven points. Bennett Peck drilled two three pointers and finished the game with 11 points, two assists and one steal. Both Zoe Clark and Emma Berenguer Fernandez had four steals each and combined for 13 points, five rebounds and six assists. Samaire Slusarek came off the bench and supplied the team with 11 points while shooting 4-10 from the floor.
For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 18-48 from the field (37.5%), 5-16 from three-point range (31.3%) and 13-27 the free-throw line (48.1%). The Scotties shot 23-64 from the field (35.9%), 4-18 from three-point range (22.2%) and 18-24 from the free-throw line (75%).
The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against Hesston College at 5:30 p.m. Feb.19 at Metropolitan Community College – Penn Valley in Kansas City, Mo.
