GREAT BEND, Kan. - The NIACC baseball team dropped a non-league twinbill to Barton CC on Friday.
NIACC (5-8) dropped a 6-0 decision in the opener and fell 15-5 in the second game.
In the opener, Barton CC's Reece Hemmerling (2-0) tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout with six strikeouts and two walks.
NIACC received singles from Alex Matchey, Darcy Barry and Will Couchman.
Starter Carson Munoz (1-2) took the loss for the Trojans. He allowed two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and two walks in three innings of work.
In the second game, Barton CC (10-4) scored 13 of its 15 runs in the sixth inning. NIACC scored all five of its runs in the seventh frame.
In the seventh inning, Couchman drove in two runs with a double and Eli Anderson had an RBI double.
Starter Austin Klug (1-1) took the loss for the Trojans. He allowed four runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in five innings of work.
NIACC and Barton CC wrap up their 3-game series with a single game starting at noon on Saturday.
