Beaver Softball Wins 3 Out Of Last 4 Games

The Pratt Community College softball team is on a three-game winning streak having won three out of their last four games against Garden City and then Northwest Tech. All four games took place on the road on April 19 and 22.  

Garden City Game One Recap  

In a close matchup between Pratt and Garden City, Garden City came out on top with a final score of 5-4. The game was a back-and-forth battle with both teams putting up a fight until the end. 

The Beavers started off strong with a run in the first inning, but Garden City quickly responded with two runs of their own. The game continued to see-saw with Pratt tying the score in the sixth inning, only for Garden City to pull ahead with a run of their own in the sixth to win 5-4. 

Despite Pratt's efforts to stay in the game, Garden City's strong pitching and timely hitting proved to be the difference maker. Garden City's pitcher, CJ Sherman, went the distance, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits while striking out 6 batters. Elysia Marquez was a standout player for Pratt, hitting a home run and driving in 2 runs.  

Garden City Game Two Recap  

Pratt came out on top in game two with a final score of 9-6. Pratt got off to a strong start, scoring four runs in the second inning to take an early lead. They continued to add to their lead throughout the game, with key contributions from players like Naveya Gardner, who had a double and an RBI, and Kylie Wardlow, who had two hits and an RBI. 

Pitching was also a key factor in the game, with Pratt's Lauren Galliher and Taygann Spencer combining for a solid performance on the mound.  

Northwest Tech Game One

In a dominating performance, Pratt Community College defeated Northwest Tech with a final score of 17-2 Pratt's offense was firing on all cylinders, scoring four runs in the first inning, two in the second, and a whopping ten runs in the third inning alone. 

Elysia Marquez was a standout player for Pratt, hitting a home run and driving in eight runs in the game. The team's strong offensive showing was also supported by players like Jaxin Logue, Lucy Davis, and Yolanda Aguirre, who all contributed with key hits and RBIs. 

On the pitching side, Lauren Galliher put in a solid performance for Pratt Community College, allowing only three hits and two runs over five innings of work. Northwest Tech struggled to contain the Beavers offense, with their pitchers giving up 17 runs on 12 hits. 

Northwest Tech Game Two 

The Beavers defeated Northwest Tech with a final score of 25-6. The game started off strong for Pratt as they scored five runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Elysia Marquez and a two-run home run by Jazin Logue. They continued to pile up runs throughout the game, with multiple players contributing to the offensive onslaught. 

Northwest Tech tried to mount a comeback in the third inning, scoring four runs, but they were unable to keep up with Pratt's relentless offense. The Beavers pitching also held strong, with Taygann Spencer and Lauren Galliher limiting the Mavericks to just six runs.
