Blue Devils Fall Short in Battle Against Northern Oklahoma, 97-89

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team (4-5) fell to the Northern Oklahoma College-Enid Jets (4-5) 97-89 Thursday night at Rockhurst University. Both Blue Devil forwards, O'shawn Jones-Winslow and Jaylon Moses fouled out with 6:59 remaining in the second half.  

Mikequese Taylor led the Blue Devils with 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals while shooting 9-14 from the field. The sophomore guard didn't miss from the free-throw line (3-3) nor from behind the arc (1-1). Caleb Jones tied his best game of the year with 16 points while also bringing down six rebounds and tallying two assists and two steals. Cortez Howlett came off the bench and shot 7-15 from the field and ended the night with 18 points, four assists and two rebounds.

The Jets had four players with 16 plus points on the night - Cahlese Lee (23), Keivon Hudson (18), Marcell Perry (17) and PJ Twa (16). Hudson was one rebound away from a double-double, and Lee continues to lead the Jets in points per game and now averages 14.2 per game on the season.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 48 percent from the field (36-75), 31.8 percent from three-point range (7-22) and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line (10-14). The Jets shot 52.5 percent from the field (31-59), 50 percent from three-point range (12-24) and 88.5 percent from the free-throw line (23-26). Despite the Blue Devils forwards getting in foul trouble, KCKCC scored 54 of their 87 points in the paint compared to the Jets 30.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the John Wood Blazers at 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at Rockhurst University.
