HAWKS OFFENSE IMPROVES DURING FOUR-GAME SET IN HESSTON

HESSTON, Kan. – The Northeast Community College softball team loaded up and headed to Hesston, Kansas on Saturday and Sunday for a four-game series with Hesston College. The Hawks fell in all four matchups by final scores of 4-3, 10-2, 9-8 and 15-7.

Northeast (0-8) had solid production offensively all weekend as they were within one run of the Larks in two of the four contests. Game 3 of the series saw the Hawks explode offensively as Amanda Quintana-Gonzales (Denver, Colo.) tallied a home run, a double and two RBIs while Malika Monroe (Valentine, Neb.) added three hits, a homer and two RBIs. The Hawks will now turn their attention to an upcoming two-game series in the Rosemount Dome against Dakota County Technical College on Friday.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on the weekend as a whole:

"Offensively, we put the bat on the ball," Sharpe said. "We made adjustments and put the ball in play. I was really pleased with our bats and look forward to them getting better and better."

Sharpe on the focus for her group before getting back in action on Friday:

"We will hit this week hard with defense," Sharpe said. "We need to clean up a little here and there and I think those will be game changers. The girls are starting to understand the flow I am aiming for and believe we have good things to come from it."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will have a few days off before battling Dakota County Technical College in a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m. Friday in Rosemount, Minnesota.
