Highland Men Finish Regular Season Strong With Road Win Over Fort Scott

Box Score Looking to close out the regular season strong and assure themselves a home game to open the Region VI Tournament the Highland men's basketball team squared off with Fort Scott and after trading blows early the Scotties gained a 74-67 road win.

The win avenges the Scotties loss to the Greyhounds in Highland and moves Highland to 19-10 on the season and Scotties finish 5-5 in Conference play to finish third in the KJCCC.

Back and forth early and throughout the first half the Scotties found themselves down 31-30 at halftime. Highland opened the second half outscoring the Greyhounds 15-7 over the first five minutes out of halftime and went up 45-38. That lead grew to double figures for the Scotties and Highland went on to claim the 74-67 win on the road over Fort Scott.

Scotties shot a season best 59.2% from the floor going 29-49 and 6-12 from three-point range, while overcoming 17 turnovers.

A quartet of double figure scorers paced the Scotties as Rashon Johnson tallied 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Marquise Milton went 6-12 from the floor finishing with 16 points. Aguek Deng recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Jaron Flowers off the bench finished with 10 points, two rebounds and three assists.

Highland tied Fort Scott for third in the Region and via a coin toss got the nod for the three seed and will host Hesston in the opening round of the Region VI Tournament on Friday, February 28th at 7:00pm.
