Stewart Continues to Impress with 30 Points in Conference Battle

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team took down the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds, 75-71 Jan. 18 at Park University in Parkville, Mo. The win was big for the Blue Devils as Fort Scott entered the game 2-0 in conference play. The Blue Devils were 1-1 headed into the matchup, so KCKCC now has the head-to-head advantage if needed later in the season. 

BJ Stewart finished the game with a team-high 30 points and currently leads the Blue Devils averaging 18.3 points per game. He also managed to record six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal. O'shawn Jones-Winslow finished with his second double double of the season as he finished the game with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Ta'Veaion Washington shot 4-8 from the floor and finished with eight points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal. Camron Williford had a team-high five assists along with four rebounds, two points and two steals. There were seven ties and five lead changes in the conference battle, and both teams recorded 40 points in the paint while KCKCC out rebounded Fort Scott 45 to 35.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 28-60 from the field (46.7%), 7-21 from three-point range (33.3%) and 12-21 from the free-throw line (57.1%). The Greyhounds shot 25-65 from the field (38.5%), 4-20 from three-point range (20%) and 17-24 from the free-throw line (70.8%).

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Highland Community College Scotties at 7:30 p.m. Jan.22 at Highland Community College in Highland, Kan.
