Blue Devils Lose Both against Iowa Central, 7-2 and 11-10

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (0-2) fell to the Iowa Central Community College Tritons (2-0) 7-2 and 11-10 Feb. 18 in Kansas City, Kan.

In the first game, Sydney Becker was perfect at bat, going 2 for 2 with one run scored and had the lone Blue Devil RBI. Adrianna Smith scored one run and had 1 hit in 2 at-bats, including drawing a walk. McKenna Lester went 1 for 3 at the plate and scored a run. Savannah Short went 1 for 2 and recorded one walk. Alyssa Droge threw four 4.0 innings and let up eight hits, six earned runs, six walks and recorded five strikeouts. Hanna Acree threw the remaining 3.0 innings and had four hits, one earned run, one walk and three strikeouts.

The Tritons were led by Alexis Hansen who went 3 for 4 at the plate and had two RBI's. Aleena Sandy went 2 for 4 and had one strikeout. Morgan Weeks recorded three RBI's and went 1 for 4 from the plate.

In game two, McKenna Lester went 3 for 4 and scored one run and one RBI. Sydney Becker had another big game, going 2 for 4. She tallied three RBI's and scored twice. Savannah Short and Liberty Hawks both recorded two hits as well. Annika Smith, Adrianna Smith, Alyssa Droge and Sara Portela were the other Blue Devils who recorded a hit. Both Portela and Becker made solid contact and recorded a double. Lillian Fisher threw for 2.0 innings and let up seven hits, four earned runs, three walks with three strike outs. Alexis Smith also threw for two innings, letting up only one hit.

Kaylee Cary had one homerun for the Tritons and went 2 for 4 from the plate. Jayda Long was the lead off hitter and went 3 for 5, scoring twice and had one RBI. Alexis Hansen had two doubles and went 3 for 4 from the plate with two RBI's and two runs. Breanna Nolte also went 3 for 4, one double, two RBI's and scored twice.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Ottawa Braves JV at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 22 in Kansas City, Kan.
