KCKCC BLUE DEVILS WIN 5TH STRAIGHT

Saturday was just another walk in the park for the KCKCC Men's basketball team as they notched their 5th straight win in beating Brown Mackie 59-51 taking their record to 19-8 overall. The win Saturday moved KCK into first place in Region VI play with a 6-4 record.

CJ Vallejo had another solid game leading the Blue Devils in scoring with 22 points from 8-16 from the floor, 4-6 from the 3 point line and 2-2 from the free throw line.  Babajide Ainawas second in scoring with 17 points and grabbing 13 rebounds and adding 5 assists.  Between Coach Newton's three point guards they combined for 13 of their 25 assists.

Defense seemed to be the key for the Blue Devils in holding Brown Mackie to just 51 points when they are averaging 79 points per game.  "This was a total team effort today."  "We were locked in on defense and rebounding," said Coach Newton.  The blue devils out rebounded Brown Mackie by 14 and held them to 20 rebounds below their season average.

The Blue Devils have no time to rest as they head to Highland on Wednesday, February 18th for a 7:00 PM tip off.  They will return to home on Saturday, February 21st against Jayhawk Conference opponent, Allen County at 4:00.
