Highland men's basketball team cruised to the win on Monday night in their first road contest of the season topping Missouri Southern State University JV 106-41.
The Scotties over the first five and half minutes worked to an 11-3 lead and continued to expand the lead over the course of the contest as Highland led 23-6 at the 9:25 mark and went into halftime leading 48-17. The lead grew in the second half as the Scotties dropped 58 points in the half and grabbed the commanding 106-41 win.
Highland controlled the game in many ways shooting 53.2% from the floor in the contest, while holding MSSU JV to just 22.4% shooting and the Scotties won the rebounding battle with 56 rebounds to 21. Scotties also shot 50% from three-point range going 10-20 from behind the arc.
Taiveyhon Mason led Highland as he matched his career posting 25 points going 10-14 from the floor and 4-6 from three-point range. Three other Scotties hit the double figure plateau as
Tristen Hull notched a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while
Rashon Johnson scored 12 points and added five rebounds and
DJ Doakes chipped in 10 points.
With the win Highland moves to 2-0 to start the season and now heads to Fort Scott, Kansas on Friday and Saturday for a pair of games at the Gladbach Classic. Scotties will face Neosho County CC on Friday, November 9
th at 4:00pm and Saturday, November 10
th at 2:00pm against Louisiana Prep.
