Highlanders pick of pair of wins in Odessa
Day two in Odessa began with a 9-1 victory for the McLennan Highlanders over the Garden City Broncbusters. Landrie Harris picked up the win in the circle.
McLennan scored one run in the bottom of the first as Madison Garcia reached on an error, stole second, advanced to third on another error and scored on a fielder's choice by Tehya Pitts.
Three more Highlander runs scored in the third. MJ Nicholson was hit by the pitch but out at second on a fielder's choice by Garcia. Garcia stole second an Pitts singled. Pitts stole second and both runners scored on a double by Trinity Allen. Lilli Piersons singled and Mickayla Tosch reached on an error, loading the bases. Ally Thompson then grounded into a double play, allowing Allen to score.
Four McLennan runs scored in the fourth. Aynsli Lawson doubled and scored on a single by Alyssa Moreno. Nicholson was hit by the pitch again and replaced by pinch runner Delanie Roeder. Garcia then singled to score Moreno. A fielder's choice by Pitts put Garcia out at third. Allen reached on an error, scoring Roeder and Pitts.
The Highlanders scored one run int eh bottom of the fifth to steal the run rule. Lawson triple and then scored as Moreno reached on an error.
McLennan closed out the trip to West Texas with a 9-4 win over the host Odessa Wranglers. Kynlei Chapman picked up the win in the circle.
Lawson's solo home run put McLennan on the board in the second.
The Highlanders added two runs in the third. Garcia singled, stole second and scored on a double by Tosch. Roeder came in as the pinch runner for Tosch and scored on a single by Piersons.
McLennan tacked on four runs in the top of the fifth. Roeder walked and Allen singled. Piersons reached on an error, scoring Roeder. Thompson then singled to score Allen and Piersons. Lawson followed with a doubled to score Thompson.
Odessa got on the board with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Seniah Haines, Neve Adams and Taryn Blazevich all singled to load the bases. Haines then scored on a fielder's choice by Raganied Franka.
Three more Wrangler runs scored in the sixth. Shelby Navarrete singled and Haines reached on an error. A single by Renske Tellekamp loaded the bases. Adams singled to score Navarrete, and Blazevich singled to score Haine and Tellekamp.
The Highlanders rounded out the scoring with two runs in the top of the seventh. Piersons doubled and scored on a single by Thompson. Pitts then singled to score Thompson.
