Highland Women Move to 9-0 With Win Over Missouri Valley JV

The #6 Highland women's basketball team kept things rolling on Monday night as they jumped up early at home against Missouri Valley JV and cruised to the 102-45 stretching their home win streak to 44-straight games.

Scotties asserted the dominate roll early in the game starting the contest on a 14-0 run but Missouri Valley looked to answer tallying five consecutive points only to the Scotties go on a 12-0 run over the next nearly three minutes and by the end of the first quarter Highland led 30-9.

That lead only grew as halftime approached as the Vikings of Missouri Valley struggled from the field and were unable to net a field goal in the second quarter getting just two points from the free throw line in the quarter and Highland led 49-11 at intermission.

Another little run of 7-0 opened the second half for Highland and the Scotties continued to stymie Missouri Valley throughout the remainder of the contest to cruise to the win 102-45 win.

The contest marked the third time the Scotties have surpassed 100 points on the year, while they also shot over 50% from the floor for the fifth time this season as they shot 52.1%. Scotties shared the ball well with 25 assists on 38 made field goals, while hitting 10 three's and going 16-22 from the charity stripe. Defensively Highland held the Vikings to 25.4% shooting and forced 28 turnovers, while snagging 22 steals.

Tiana Gipson once again led the Scotties as she posted her sixth career 30-point performance with 30 points on 10-18 shooting including 6-14 from three-point range. Gipson added four rebounds, four assists and four steals on the night. Kate Ogle her first career double-double with a career high in points and rebounds finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while adding four steals. Destiny Cartwright, Riana Lawson and Jahnari Brydlong all recorded double figures with 15, 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The win for the Scotties move them to 9-0 on the season and keep their home winning streak rolling stretching it to 44-straight games. Highland will look to add to that home win streak again on Saturday, November 30th when they host McPherson JV for a 6:00pm contest.
