No.14 Women’s Basketball Drops First Game of 2024-25 Season

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team fell to the Cloud County Community College Thunderbirds, 75-50 Nov. 12 at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kan. Both teams entered the contest looking to keep their undefeated season rolling.  

Samaire Slusarek was the only Blue Devil to finish in double figures with 19 points, six rebounds and a team-high three steals.  Both Bennett Peck and Amaya Gallegos finished with nine points as they combined for 7-17 from the field. Capri Garrett brought down seven rebounds while scoring three points and blocking two Thunderbird shots.

For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 17-44 from the field (38.6%), 1-6 from three-point range (16.7%) and 15-23 from the free-throw line (65.2%). The Thunderbirds shot 24-72 from the field (33.3%), 4-17 from three-point range (23.5%) and 23-34 from the free-throw line (67.6%).

The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against Rock Valley College at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley.
