
The No.13 Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team defeated the Missouri Valley College Varsity Reserve team, 70-52 Nov. 5 at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. Four Blue Devils finished in double digits as they shot 40% from behind the arc and 40.6% from the field.
Samaire Slusarek goes back-to-back games leading the team in points as she finished with 24 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Capri Garrett recorded her second double-double of the season with 16 rebounds and 15 points. Garrett also managed to record three steals and two assists with a block. Amaya Gallegos shot 3-4 from three-point land and finished with 13 points, five rebounds and two steals. Emma Berenguer Fernandez led the team with three assists and finished the game with 11 points.
For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 26-64 from the field (40.6%), 6-15 from three-point range (40%) and 12-19 from the free-throw line (63.2%). The Vikings shot 17-51 from the field (33.3%), 6-21 from three-point range (28.6%) and 12-23 from the free-throw line (52.2%).
The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against Haskell University at 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley for their first game of the KCKCC Hall of Fame Classic.
