Big Fourth Inning Propels Mountaineers to Win over Cowley County

Eastern defeated Cowley County 10-1 on Friday thanks to a timely six runs in a big fourth inning. The rally was led by singles from Ethan Williams, Mac McCroskey and Tyler Johnson, a home run by Johnson and a double by Easten James.

Christian McGowan pitched the mountaineers to victory. He went seven innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out 13.

Miguel Obeso led things off on the pitcher's mound for Cowley County. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out four. Garrett VanDeventer, Cole Miller, and Hunter Edwards each contributed in relief for Cowley County.

Eastern tallied two home runs on the day. Johnson went deep in the fourth inning. James had a dinger in the sixth inning.

The Mountaineers totaled 11 hits in the game. McCroskey, James, Johnson and Wyatt Gray each managed multiple hits for Eastern. Gray, Johnson, James and McCroskey each managed two hits to lead the team.
