
The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team took down the Metropolitan Community College Wolves, 14-9 on March 19 at the Maple Woods Complex in Kansas City, Mo. Freddie Nolen IV had a career-high five hits in his six plate appearances as he scored three of those five times he got on base and knocked in one RBI.
Spenser Smock was the Blue Devil lead-off hitter and managed to go 2-4 from the plate and got walked twice. Smock scored three times, had three RBIs and hit his third homerun on the season. Sawyer Tolk had three hits, scored twice and added one RBI. The designated hitter, Ian Woita, had two RBIs on his one hit and is now hitting .296 on the season.
There were eight pitchers in the mid-week game against the Wolves as Weston Fries started and let in one run from two hits and struck out three batters in his three innings of work. Dylan Blazer recorded the win after throwing 1.2 innings while letting up just one hit. While walking one batter, he managed to strikeout five of the seven batters that he faced.
The next series for the Blue Devils is against the Neosho County Community College Panthers at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on March 20 at the Neosho County baseball field in Chanute, Kan.
