
The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team swept the Hesston College Larks with scores of 14-0 and 20-3. The Blue Devil offense was on fire as they recorded 34 hits in both games combined while putting up 34 total runs. After this sweep, the Blue Devils have now swept four teams in a row - Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Highland, Dakota County Technical College and now Hesston.
In the first game, Sidney Sullivan, Kaitlyn Cowan, Ashton Russell and Lilea Prahm all had two hits each combining for eight RBIs. Sullivan has four RBIs and two doubles. Cassidy Reno, Kylie Vandervoort and Cowan had two RBIs and scored one run each. Both Reno and Prahm recorded a triple as well.
Alyssa Droge threw for all five innings, allowed no runs and struck out four batters in the 20 Lark batters that she faced.
In game two, the Blue Devils had 21 hits and scored a total of 20 runs in the first three innings. Kinlei Boley and Sullivan had four RBIs each and scored for a combined six runs. Boley also went for a perfect 3-3 at the plate with a double and home run. Cowan went 3-4, had three RBIs and scored two times. Sydney Becker went 2-4, scored once and had two RBIs. Abryelle Hill had two hits in her three plate appearances, scored three times and added two RBIs. Reno capped things off with two hits, two runs and two RBIs.
After a no-hitter, Lillian Fisher found herself going the distance in game two against the Larks. She allowed three runs from five hits and struck out two of the 20 batters she faced.
The next series for the Blue Devils is April 1 as they take on Southwestern Community College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the KCKCC softball field as they look to continue their sweeping streak.
