Highland Men Fall in KJCCC Action to KCK

After picking up a pair of close wins on the road in KJCCC action the Highland men's basketball team was back home on Saturday hosting Kansas City Kansas CC and the Scotties had all the could handle.

Behind some hot shooting, the Blue Devils of KCK the Scotties fell at home 91-73 falling to 15-7 on the season and 2-2 in Conference play.

Highland started up 1-0 before the ball was even tipped as a pregame technical foul was assessed to KCK for dunking during pregame and Marquise Milton made the technical free throw. Scotties worked to a 10-6 lead but that would be the last lead Highland would hold as KCK went on a 16-0 to take control of the contest. The Blue Devils worked to a 20-plus point lead in the first half against the Scotties and by halftime, Highland trailed 50-33.

Scotties mounted some advances towards KCK in the second half managing to get within six points multiple times but were unable to overcome the hot shooting of the Blue Devils falling 91-73.

While Highland shot 42.2% from the field KCK shot 54.7% from the field and 51.7% from three-point range making 15 three-pointers including 10 in the first half.

Milton paced the Scotties in the loss scoring 25 points on 9-16 shooting and 5-5 from the free-throw line, while Rashon Johnson notched 16 points and went 6-6 from the free-throw line while grabbing five rebounds. Denzel Knight chipped in a career-best 14 points on 7-8 shooting.

Scotties will look to snap a two-game home losing streak on Wednesday, February 5th when they host Fort Scott for a 7:30pm tip in KJCCC play.
